Someone asked me what inspires me to paint what I paint. Here's a story.

My mind works best in images. I visualise all sorts of things. And quite often I lose track of what's real, right here right now. I drift away, flying high, seeing scenarios, spaces, colours, shapes, possibilities.

The good side of living with my head in the clouds is that in those moments of day dreaming I AM THERE. I can see, smell, sense the world I create in my vision.

(Btw. It helped immensely (twice) during labour. When M was born I left reality into a deep self-hypnosis. I was flying in space and found a beautiful peony flower that opened in my hands.
And when K was coming, I became (in my mind) a wild beast in a forest, under the full moon, the strongest and wildest creature in the Universe.)

Last year I gave myself a little gift - I signed up for my first Yoga Retreat with one and only @travel.with.ania and Ewa Knap. 3 days of not only wonderful classes with my favourite instructors but also - and maybe most importantly - being surrounded by this... this soft and gentle energy of gratitude, love, understanding, empathy.

So here I am, getting ready for my class. Ania starts her meditation session and plays ‘Horizon’ by Garth Stevenson.

I close my eyes and in a matter of seconds I find myself in the mountains, flying as an eagle, effortlessly gliding towards snowy peaks covered in clouds.

I listen to the wind and to the gentle notes of the song. I can feel the wind, sense the speed, yet the distance doesn't seem to shrink and I can admire the view for as long as I want to.

And I do so, for the entire meditation.

I go back to that place regularly.
I play 'Horizon' in the background, sit next to my easel and gently touch the snowy peaks with white paint.
